Interesting stuff...

South-East stats (non-London). Its not just grim up north... its pretty grim in the South too.

Education and Child Poverty (rank out of 8414 wards in the whole UK - 1 being the worst for poverty and 8414 the best)

Brighton and Hove - Marine - 10
Havant - Warren Park - 57
Reading - Whitley - 66
Oxford - Blackbird Leys - 81
Milton Keynes - Woughton - 85
Southampton - Redbridge - 88
Hastings - Hollington - 100
Havant - Barncroft - 107
Crawley - Broadfield - 115
Dartford - Joyce Green - 142
Milton Keynes - Eaton Manor - 151
Crawley - Tilgate - 186
Dover - Buckland - 197
Brighton and Hove - Moulsecoomb - 202
Dartford - Littlebrook - 220
Portsmouth - Charles Dickens/Somerstown - 217

Out of 8414 that's pretty bad...

Thankfully, John Prescott is very keen on using the Indices of Multiple Deprivation as a justification for making exceptions to national policies that would otherwise discourage development in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - provided there's a public benefit associated with the development.

Access to housing domain... typifies which place is the worst "looking" in terms of how bad the housing is (old tower blocks, old derelict terraces etc...)

P.S. I had to study this, so have the data on the computer. I'm not a boring bastard (honest...)

Slough - Baylis - 52
Slough - Central -73
Slough - Stoke - 79
Woking - Central and Maybury - 91
Oxford - St. Clement`s -147
Slough - Farnham - 198
Slough -Chalvey - 206
Slough - Wexham Lea - 219
Wycombe - Oakridge and Tinkers Wood - 256
Reading - Katesgrove - 275
Brighton and Hove - Moulsecoomb - 283
Reading -Park - 284
Oxford - East - 295
Thanet - Ethelbert -307
Southampton - Bargate -366
Reading - Abbey - 390
Medway - Town - 396
Southampton - St. Lukes - 401
Havant - Warren Park - 417
Reading - Whitley - 426
Brighton and Hove - Regency - 441
Brighton and Hove - Vallance - 442
Havant - Battins - 450
Oxford - Central - 457
Reading - Redlands - 467
Medway - Brompton - 489

Shepway - Folkestone Central - 507
Brighton and Hove - Marine - 510

I've had that exact sentence quoted to me by a Labour civil servant earlier this year.
Technically speaking,it's all looking good.

Only Tilgate in Crawley.
THE WHOLE PLACE IS A SHIT HOLE.

Christ that place is rough. I remember taking my x to Tilgate Park for some lovin and I had to drive through there. Not the best place to parade a 'sports car' I can tell you

Basically, "Marine" is Whitehawk and the far end (or near end, depending on where you stand) of Kemp Town.

The government's statistics are based on the old ward boundaries which were changed earlier in 2003.
