What about this as the most outstanding managerial performance of the season so far, and one that perhaps our very own Deano ought to note.
Reading the Sunday Times football results yesterday, I was amazed to see how the Pools Panel reported events at The Riverside the previous day.
It seems that Middlesborough went behind to a goal from local rivals Newcastle and went back to the dressing room a goal down at half time. However by the end of the game, due presumably to Southgate's inspired half time team talk, clever tactical changes and astute substitutions, they had turned it around and achieved a very creditable 0-0 draw.
I don't do the pools any more. Wanna guess why ?
But I wish I had got a bet on the half time/ full time result.
