What's happening in Hove, junction of the Kingsway and Langdale Gardens? Nothing on the news at all, loads of police, all cordoned off and lots of those little yellow markers on the road when there's been a shooting....

No shootings, chaps, at least not by the time I left work today. Sorry to disappoint, but it's "just" a road accident.

Albeit one that sounded as though it might impact fairly dramatically on someone's life

It is, always been thus as long as I've been a copper.

Can't say I really give it any thought though. I'm not going to berate someone for using the term accident. Which will no doubt disappoint regular purveyors of "it's political correctness gone mad" hysteria.
