What an absolutely bonkers game of football. Utterly thrilling.
Some stunning performances in there from a fair few players. Shame about the loss of control at the end. Ditto with Dunk's booking, meaning RDZ is going to have to weave some different magic against in-form West Ham, especially as it looks as though Igor and Buonanotte have picked up injuries. From no wide players, to just one CB.

Steele 7.5 -- some stunning distribution there, not sure he had a save to make
Hinshelwood 8 -- what a mature performance, so good, a brilliant finish, and some great play. Snuffed Son out, but looked less assured against Gil.
JPvH 8 -- a rock
Dunk 8 -- got in the way of everything, unfortunately over-committed for their first goal, and picked up a yellow when four up
Igor 7 -- a few dicey moments, but hope the injury doesn't keep him out too long
Gilmour 9 -- brilliant performance, he's in such a rich vein of form, dictates things and becoming more physical
Gross 8.5 -- so good yet again, but no assists: what's up Pascal?
Milner 9 -- amazing performance, RDZ loves him for his attitude; tonight we should love him for his quality
Welbeck 8.5 -- ran them ragged, was top quality tonight
Buonanotte 7 -- some things paid off, others didn't
Joao Pedro 9 MotM -- two goals, an assist, and stretched their high line and made them pay. Sent their keeper the wrong way twice: again. What a player he is.

Pervis 8 -- welcome back; I like the way he didn't push things tonight. And what a strike
Ferguson 6
Moder 5 -- thought he was poor tonight, passing not up to much, and didn't capitalise on some good opportunities. Some good tackling and physicality. He'll come good.
Baleba 6
Lallana n/a

PS does anyone know why there's no MotD?

Not much to debate there except Dunk I thought was a 7. A couple of over ambitious passes in the first half and distinctly dodgy last 20 mins. Dwelt on the ball too long for their first goal and on another day could have got a red as opposed to a yellow and the suspension. Personally I also thought he was a little asleep at the back post for their second. At the kick off it also looked like Gross had a few stern words with him which which I would speculate might have been along the lines of ' come on focus ' !

Steele - 6 - thought his distribution was poor (by his standards) . Bart could have lumped it long, just as well as Steele did,
Dunk - 6 - Possibly a little harsh, but his standards are so high, I tend to under-mark him.
Igor - 6 - Good in patches but felt like our weaker link in defence. Made some important interventions though.
JPvH - 7 - Best of teh centrebacks - thank God we will still have him for West Ham.
Hinsh - 8 - Immense. was so relieved o see him at RB. Smashed in his goal, giving the keeper little chance
Gilmour - 8 - Dominant, getting better all the time.
Gross - 7 - Decent as always, but he looks tired. a few uncharacteristically loose passes
Milner - 8 - Furious to see him start, but oh my god! He was incredible.
Buononotte - 7 -Really adapting to the division now. Pressed well and won the ball back multiple times. Hope the injury is not severe
Welbeck - 8 - Should have had a goal - but absolutely superb. He is making the difference to our attacking threat.
Joao Pedro - 8 - All over the pitch, he was superb. De Zerbi criticized him earlier in the season for not doing enough in defence. He Listened - MotM

Subs -
Moder - 6 - precious minutes, good to see him back
Estupinan - 7 - Understandably off the pace at first, but what a f***ing hit that was
Baleba - 6 - Important minutes again - Powerful, will be a force to reckon with, but probably not this season.
Ferguson - 6 - Won an obvious penalty but didn't do too much else. Can (and will) learn a lot from Welbeck.
Lallana - N/A

On the night thought he was (yet again) the real engine in the team passing, running, tackling but swayed to JP for MOTM because of his efforts and 2 penalties but very very close.

Milner, Buonanotte and Billy also close though two of them did not complete the 90 mins as did Danny who showed how you hold up the ball.

One other callout was Hinshelwood - that goal set the tone of the game .

Not harsh at all.

Dunk was an 8 until around the 80th minute. He was then very poor. He got a needless yellow, gave the ball away for their 1st and was insipid for their 2nd. Any other player is crucified for such awful play (I’m looking at you Webster) but such is the credit Dunk has in the bank, it’s fine.

I think we’re getting hammered tomorrow and he hasn’t helped our cause by getting a ban.

Steele - 6 - I think I am swaying to Verbruggen as he seems better at coming out for crosses.
Dunk - 6 - Always puts his body in the line but was poor by his standards.
Igor - 6 - Good performance and looks good going forwards but not a LB.
JPvH - 7 - Getting better and better. Also seems to really love the team.
Hinsh - 8 - Played really well. What a great advert for the academy
Gilmour - 8 - Becoming the real playmaker. One day he will score!
Gross - 7 -Manager´s favourite player. Wherever he starts, he is a good performer.
Milner - 8 -Brilliant performance. Pleased for him after a poor showing at LB v Arsenal.
Buononotte - 7 -Getting better every game but please not in wide areas.
Welbeck - 7 - Great performance from Danny. A class act.
Joao Pedro - 8 - All over the pitch, he worked so hard and took his pens so well.
Subs -
Moder - 6 - He may be a key player soon.
Estupinan - 7 - Looked a bit worrying at first but got so much better and what a spectacular goal!
Baleba - 6 -He shows promise but no experience at this level.
Ferguson - 6 -I am worried for this lad. Last season he was really decisive and effective. Currently looks a bit out of his depth.
Lallana - Nice option to have but will not be a key player for much longer.
