 How long has Liverpool's application been at the ODPM for?!? One or two weeks?

While we waited forever and get a politically motivated "maybe" decision! :censored:

That's just from the council, the ODPM now have 3 months (i think) to decide whether its called in for a public enquiry.

If it is being called in, with any luck, one of the conditions will be that the city are only allowed one 60,000 stadium in Stanley Park, as Everton are (or certainly were) trying to build one accross the river from where the Mickey's are looking at. Surely this is a crass waste of land.

Yeah you're right! What's the point of Falmer when there is a perfectly good 26,000 all seater stadium just up the A23?

Bit of a crass waist of land if you ask me!

Whatever.

Where there is only one team in the city then that team should have a stadium. However when there are 2 sides in the city both trying to build there own new grounds, surely it makes sense to build one between them. They are never allowed to play on the same day and this system works in Italy.

However as one of the sages of NSC you are correct, so sorry for putting a view forward.

Here's a few punctuation marks for your use-seeing as how you appear to have lost all of yours... If I find some capital letters I'll pass them on to you.

,,,,, ''' ;;; ::: ...

Feel free to use them in your next post because it is f***ing hard work reading the above!

What the hell is a sage of NSC?

Anyway I was trying to get you to think of it from there side. Yes I know it works in Italy but it doesn't work here. The place where they should really be ground sharing is Scotland. Dundee and Dundee United spring to mind. But all clubs have a great deal of history and don't want to share that history with another club. I know I wouldn't.

How can you say it does not work here, no clubs have built new grounds together. Instead you have this situation where the 2 Merseyside clubs are going to waste 2 plots intsead of using one and the Bristol clubs have been banging on about new grounds for donkey's.

At the end of the day if cities where there are 2 clubs had one super ground (cannot think of a better phrase), then there would be no need for the spunking of money that is going on via the Wembley project, as there would be a number of 60,000 + grounds.

It won't work here because there is too much opposition from the fans. Hand on heart, would you want it?

Well unless Whitehawk or Withdean come storming through the leagues, it would not be an issue. But if it was the difference between being stuck in the current shack and us sharing with this mystical other Brighton side, then yes I would accept it.

Oh that's brilliant! Sharing with Whithawk is hardly a fair comparison.

What about sharing with Crawley or even Palace. Try to ignore geography for now. I'm fully aware that there is only one team in Brighton and so your argument will never affect us. I'm trying to get you to think about fans that is will affect. Imagin Brighton and Palace were from the same city. Would you be happy ground sharing with them?

i think thats rather his point though isnt it? The fans wont like it, but looking at from business and planning points of view, both clubs get a better deal in the form a massive 80K+ stadium.

I'd have to argue as to whether or not it does work very well in Italy? I've never been to a game there however, but it doesnt look all that on tv. Anyone been and have an opinion???

Our football clubs (and i'm sure Italy's too) are all about individuality- our colours, our players, our supporters, the songs we sing etc. And our home grounds are also a part of this. I can see your point about good business Buck, but to keep employing that 'good business' argument is ignoring some of the fundamental aspects of supporting a football team IMHO.
