Have you run a spyware or Adware scan? Have you tried to repair Internet Explorer? Have you carried out a virus scan?

How long have you been having this problem? What have you installed recently? Is the problem only with Internet Explorer?

If its been like that since new then take it back to where you bought it. You wouldnt put up with a new car that only let you have one window open at a time, you'd badger the dealer until he fixed it. Why do people put up with this sort of crap with computers? :rolleyes:

Because its a software issue, not a hardware one, the vendor should not be bothered with it.Its not the vendors fauilt if someone get a virus/spyware/whatver. Only hardware faults are.

I'm getting KDL issues on my HP laptop. I'm not going to bring it back, as its a software issue and hence brought on by myself, by using another OS. In this case its a software issue caused by using the 'net without protection.

You don't sue your parents if you get AIDS by screwing a hooker without a condom. You don't moan to the PC maker if you get a virus by surfing without protection.

"if its been like that from new..." is a key qualification there. Computers get delivered, and the software fails out of the box. That makes it the vendors problem.

No, its Microsofts fault. Its likely a spyware tracker that kinkygerbil got the very first time s/he went on the net. Hence not the vendors fault.

:Linux is not the answer here, its too complex for normal usage.

Yes it is very complex, but it is a nice system and very very stable, as you know the only thing that is making Linux fall behind is support from major vendors. Nvidia seem to be sorting their act out as the driver installation has now been improved, however its still quite a task, match the kernel with kernel-source, log out as root - init 3, edit XF86Config-4 file using vi, then init to level 5 restart your machine, I use a dual boot system here, but as soon as codeweavers and cadega support performance improves for running dreamweaver & photoshop and games im outta here. I like the features in Linux it keeps my brain going and I dont feel tied down, some of the themes in KDE are beautiful and the desktop is pleasant to look at, you also dont get spyware either which os part of the reason I get pissed off with Windows. I like the idea of open source it has allowed many people to learn and eventually all linux flavours will be up there with windows.

Opensource = good
Linux = bad
Changing OS = good
Relying on apps from your previous OS under emulation = very bad.

KDE is the ugliest, worst coded piece of crap ever made. There is no way in hell most people who use a responsive OS (BeOS/Mac Classic) could stand using KDE on a similarly sped machine.

I use BeOS. The only applications "from Windows" I use are Firefox and Transport Tycoon, and those are both native ports, not running in a hackjob emulator. I have hardware support from my hardware vendors - ATi, Creative, Hauppuage, etc have all either coded drivers or given full specs for the cards.

Linux was a bad idea in 1991, its a bad idea now. Really, if it dissapeared tomorrow the computing world would be no worse off.

No: I changed OS for a reason, and hence I don't want legacy Windows applications around. I use N|Vu and Refraction instead.

BeOS is a free download, yes. You need a Pentium III or Athlon (or earlier) CPU and Windows running on FAT-32 or Linux on EXT-2 to use the free download as it is (its from 2000), but there are modified downloads which can be installed off CD, and support Pentium 4's, Athlon XP/Opteron/etc. BeOSMax and BeOS Developer Edition are the ones most suited.

I tried that NVU and I hate it, I also tried GIMP and I hate that too, mainly becuase I have spent two years on dreamweaver and at least 2.5 years using photoshop and changing over is a nightmare, howvever I might take a look at this BEOS to see what it is like as an OS. I love trying alternatives and anything to get me away from the evil empire. Again I can only get away if dreamweaver and photoshop where available. Just out of interest I saw a peice of software called pixel 32 which is basically like photoshop have you tried it? is it any good?

Whats the media player like in BEOS does it play all the standards i.e .avi .mpg and microsoft .wmv?

Is there an IE port in BEOS?, I often find that mozilla, etc never render webpages properly, either this is becuase we all use I.E we think this is the standard or Mozilla and all the others do it the correct way.
