I am unable to open, exe attachment files on my windows xp, anyone know why this is and how to fix the problem?

I am unable to open, exe attachment files on my windows xp, anyone know why this is and how to fix the problem?

Are they really exe files or are they something like Adobe ? Also, could you before ?

There exe files, but the computer is trying to open the with internet explorer, Adobe wont open them either, Never had this problem before!

As in .exe? They are executable files and should run themselves should they not? Just double click on them, unless they are from an email that you dont know who it's from, in which case delete them.

Yes as in .exe they are files i downloaded, wont open when i double click them!

I would suspect that they are buggered then. Are your other programs opening up OK (obviously IE is otherwise you would not be responding!!)

I would not try editing the Registry if I were you.

No i wont try that, as i dont know what im doing!???

Just read that this sometimes happens if you are trying to run a program that is not compatible with your OS, or the download did not complete properly, in which case download it again. Other than that, I have no idea. Sorry and good luck!!

Quite right, you might try detaching them first though.
