Off to see the old slacker rock kings Pavement tonight as they crank up their one-off worldwide reunion greatest hits tour.
If anyone's considering catching them elsewhere on the tour I'll let you know how they went - quite looking forward to it frankly having seen them back in 96' outdoors at Freo Oval post Wowee Zowee when they were most enjoyable.

Leading on from another thread : Who's ever been to one of these ?
I'm going to my first in May having not been able to make it in the past, who's been? who did you see ?what did you think? pics ?

Oh .... This was supposed to be a new thread.:dunce:

I've been twice, last year to the fans curated one, and the one before- Explosions In the Sky curated. Last year I went on a press pass so had to find other acommodation but the EiTS one I stayed in a chalet with friends. It's really really great, a music festival for people who really like their music, and getting drunk, having chalet parties and larking around on the (sandy!!) beach and water world!

The bands also curate the television channels and dictate what movies/documentaries are shown which is a nice touch (not that you'll be spending too much time indoors). They also curate the film theatre which is on site.

The venues, whilst not being great are okay as long as they put the right bands in the right venue. Smaller bands get lost on the larger open room downstairs. I've seen lots of bands there obviously but highlights are EiTS, Dinosaur JR, Devo, Sunset Rubdown, Beirut, Jess Lizard and Sleep.

I have pictures but they're crappy facebook quality and Mostly feature me or my dorky ex girlfriend but I'll try to pull some interesting ones when I get home later.

I'm seeing them play Brixton Academy in May - really hope to hear Serpentine Pad!
Me too.

And I agree about Serpentine Pad, but even more so with Mr Banana's Gold Soundz mention. Can't bloomin' wait.

Lo-fi indie with comparisons to Yo La Tengo. If your interested in alternative rock at all, just listen to wowee zowee or brighten the corners on Spotify or something.

If anyone's interested, the lineup to Primavera

Primavera Sound cartel

sorry I didn't understand any of that. Are they like The Killers .that sort of sound, or motre like Ting Tings?

I am very old so you will have to explain it slowly

Not like either of those. Lo-fi = low fidelity ie. a bit rough around the edges sound wise often with random bits of guitar fuzz and feedback. To be honest I can't think of anything modern, or in the charts, that sounds like Pavement.
