Here Today - on the Tug Of War album... sincere, simple, beautiful track.. go download and listen...

And If I Say I Really Knew You Well
What Would Your Answer Be.
If You Were Here Today.
Ooh- Ooh- Ooh- Here To - Day.

Well Knowing You,
You'd Probably Laugh And Say That We Were Worlds Apart.
If You Were Here Today.
Ooh- Ooh- Ooh- Here To - Day.

But As For Me,
I Still Remember How It Was Before.
And I Am Holding Back The Tears No More.
Ooh- Ooh- Ooh- I Love You, Ooh-

What About The Time We Met,
Well I Suppose That You Could Say That We Were Playing Hard To Get.
Didn't Understand A Thing.
But We Could Always Sing.

What About The Night We Cried,
Because There Wasn't Any Reason Left To Keep It All Inside.
Never Understood A Word.
But You Were Always There With A Smile.

And If I Say I Really Loved You
And Was Glad You Came Along.

If You Were Here Today.
Ooh- Ooh- Ooh- For You Were In My Song.
Ooh- Ooh- Ooh- Here To - Day.

Wah-wah
You’ve given me a wah-wah
And I’m thinking of you
And all the things that we used to do
Wah-wah, wah-wah

Wah-wah
Now I don’t need no wah-wah’s
And I know how sweet life can be
If I keep myself free - of wah-wah
I don’t need no wah-wah

Wah-wah (repeat and fade)

Poor old Macca seemed to have a way of upsetting his band mates. :lolol:

HIStory states they were friends again prior to Lennon's sad demise... though Harrison wasn't friendly with Lennon at the same time unfortunately.. apparently it haunted him til death.

How does anyone know Here Today isn't about Linda anyway?
Apparently it was said that 'Hey Jude' was written for Julian, but the words don't seem to allude to him very much, as far as I can tell.

Here's one about Linda;

You chucked that driver off the tour
he was told no meat, that was before
he got hired to drive the land which
paid good dosh, til that ham sandwich
he consumed when on a break
he was warned "only vege intake"
Now truckers care not how to tread
because that organist's brown-bread

Because Here Today was written in 1981!

Hey Jude definitely was written about Julian Lennon, specifically to cheer him up around the time of John and Cynthia Lennon's divorce.

The tune just came to McCartney in the car as he was driving over to visit them (because of course, that happens to ordinary people all the time, - "hey, I think I've got this thing called Hey Jude in my head" - proving my belief that composers are born and not made).

I think he originally had "Hey Jules, don't take it bad, take a sad song and make it better" as the lyric, but he made it a bit more obscure, probably partly for fun, partly for Julian's Lennon's sake. McCartney really wasn't sure about some of the lyrics, especially "the movement you need is on your shoulder" - he thought it sounded like it was about a parrot - but Lennon backed him up.

Bear in mind, that song was done when they were at their stroppiest with each other, while making the White Album. They could always still collaborate brilliantly though.

I saw him at live at Glastonbury in the summer. Probably the most painfull couple of hours of my life.

And I quote..."Tonight, Glastonburgen (sic.), we are gonna ROCK!". And then the twat went into Yellow Submarine on a facking ukelele. It was horrible.

Obviously not a fan Prof P.

Macca's concert lasted 2hrs 45mins. Superb from start to finish.
There were people of my age from the 60's and teenagers alike having a great time. I have the cd and the dvd.

One of the best concerts I have ever seen.

Lot's of people, probably about 50,000, were clearly loving it Yorkie and even with my own bias view I recognise the man as a genuine legend. It's just after what I'd taken that night the whole thing was far too reminiscent of my fat dad pissed at a wedding, grabbing a microphone and showing off to my Auntie Shirl.

I concur - was at Earls Court in April 2003 for it.

As legend has it, never one to miss a sub publicising stunt, the night before Hey Jude was released McCartney went to the shut down Apple Records shop and etched the words HEY JUDE in big letters in the obscured washed out windows.

That night the windows were bricked by a Jewish passer by, believing the statement to anti-semitic.

If only Ken Livingstone had been around to offer Paul advice.
