I'd wondered how he'd fit in with Trossard but that article is spot on about how it's working so far. I said pre-season we were almost playing 5-2-2-1 at times and Trossard and Gross are both "space finders" in that set up. Essentially we deployed two "number 10s" against West Ham whereas last season our big troubles came when we had no one in that space at all. With Gross back in that "deep block" role (or on the treatment table) and the two wingers pushed too wide, with the centre mids and full backs instructed to sit back, there was often 20 or 30 yards of space between Murray and anyone else. IMO, the reason Murray has still been starting is because we keep some width from the wingbacks but the no 10s inhabit that space, supporting Murray, pulling in defenders and giving Dunk and Stephens the option of a channel ball.

The great thing is that if teams get wise to that we can deploy a genuine front three with just a sub or two.

Exactly what we were saying before the game. Ideally, only one out of Pascal or Murray is fine.

Two out of the three have to be quick, so two out of Maupay, Solly, Trossard, Connolly and Izquierdo, when fit.

Absolute quality when he is on form. A dream of a player. The idea of a decent run with him, Davy and Trossard, is mouth watering- top half of the table quality imho.

On the other hand, the two of them are so good for one another, it's Pascal that provides Glenn with the lions share of his assists. Part them at your peril l say.

I agree, but would have worded it differently. A bit extra on right sided midfielders for us with Pröpper and Stephens and Bissouma all right-sided, which why I have suggested playing Bernardo on the left side of midfield. I prefer Webster to Montoya at full back.

If Pascal Groß puts the crosses in we only need one winger.

I do wonder (as I'm sure most others do as well) if a player who relies on pace can come back after X (2 ?) operations with that same speed.
Stoke aside pretty much all of Jose's game is 'run with the ball, cut in, shoot over the bar, from the edge of the box' - where have we seen that before?
It certainly isn't the one touch, pass and move, run out of space at the by-line we're becoming accustom too.

Two great goals admittedly, but let's face it he has done liitle else so far. I am going to need to see far more from him to change my mind. Consistency, as well as minutes on the pitch, are crucial.
