All the MPs are off tomorrow for their summer holidays, and most of them are not back until September. Our ministers go off for at least 4 weeks, with only one staying there as a duty minister for a week at a time. We have to get submissions up by 12 pm today, or they won't be read. So, probably not much chance of a Falmer decision for some while, unless it's today. Presumably, if it's good news, it will be announced before the Party Conference. If it's bad news, it will be after the Conference, to avoid an unpleasant demonstration in Brighton. Am I along the right lines, or talking complete cr*p? I have only worked in the Civil Service for a year. Brackers, Storer 68, you probably know more than me.

Not important that parliament is not sitting, but you still need a minister around.

I know for a fact that Keith Hill, the planning minister, will be around until the 11th August.

Yep, he is right - you just need a minister around - in fact with everything else the government is up to, it probably makes sense from their side of things that they announce stuff like this in the recess.

But I guess the ODPM have ministerial cover throughout the summer break, so it could be at any time.
