Most palace fans wanted Viera to do well and were sorry it didn’t work out, but there really was no go in the team , 4 games without a shot on target….Roy’s first game we had something like24 in the first half. In that run of 12 we lost to Nottingham Forest , Villa , Fulham and a woeful Chelsea side.

I would think if you can see progress you stay with the project. You might not like him but Parish is a very successful business man and wouldn’t be making too many quick fire off the cuff decisions without looking into what is actually happening.

We lost to Forest and Everton plus Villa & Fulham home and away - all under RDZ (apart from Fulham away I believe) . Sometimes you have to stick rather than twist.

I agree with the sentiment (i.e. Vieira would have kept them up too), but I think Parish was right to get rid of Vieira.
The "progressive style" was only ever applied against weaker teams. It was back to Hodgson-ball against the better sides.

He doesn't really have it in him as a coach.
Good enoug to make a difference in his first season, but has never pushed on in his 2nd.
There are many better options out there.

He was a very lucky businessman spotting a gap in the mobile phone business. But from then on ambition over took his financing and led to his fall…mind you he has managed to carve out a decent living since.

In fairness, "seeing a gap in the market" is a large part of being a successful businessman. Strangely when I was building my business I was an idiot, working weekends, missing family events and key football matches, when I sold it I was "lucky" in some people's eyes.

Goldberg was a avid palace fan and still is I have seen him at both home and away games in the past even after losing his millions, he was taken to the cleaners by Mr Noads like a cash rich teenager in a whore house.

As mentioned Jordan had bigger ego than cash supply.

You've misremembered that. Neither Forest, nor Fulham were not part of the winless streak. The 12 games started with the New Year and were Spurs, Chelsea, Man U, Newcastle, Man U, Brighton, Brentford, Liverpool, Villa, City, Brighton & Arsenal. All of them except Villa were in the top half when you played them and Villa only weren't because of the awful start under Gerrard. They were one of the form teams of 2023 and ended up qualifying for Europe.

Palace lost seven and drew five of the twelve and only the second half four goal capitulation against Tottenham and the Arsenal game after Vieira's departure were lost by more than a single goal. Had these results been dotted throughout the season, they wouldn't have been much outside of expectations for a mid table side. It was the fixture list that did for Vieira. That and Parish being too panicked to realise that his mid-table budget had produced a mid table side that couldn't buy a win against the top half, but would do well enough against the bottom half to survive comfortably. Hodgson came in and played eight games against bottom half sides winning five of them. Seems a remarkable upturn until you consider that, in the first half of the season, Vieira played nine against the bottom half and won five. I see our fall very differently, we suffered the consequences, Palace didn't. Twice.

Very different team of players.

With the right players Roy is a good manager as his record shows, players seem to like him and that makes a great difference.
