One persons idea of what is "any good" can be very different to anothers.
I have been to Croatia twice in the last four years.
First in the north including Zagreb and latterly Dubrovinik. The coast line is one of the most beautiful anywhere with hundreds of islands and some very good sailing. Dubrovinik itself was being rebuilt and the walled town is very nice to walk around but we didn't find much in the way of shops / nightlife - but then we didn't look very hard.
Visted Mostar in Bosnia while we were there - well worth a visit for the history there, the bridge (now reopened) etc.
Virtually everyone in Crotia was friendly in a genuine way i.e. not just trying to part you from your money although that may be changing now that more tourists are finding their way there.
Went to Pula before the war nice and cheap and I enjoyed it gypo's were a pain up the arse though, if you go in the sea wear something on your feet, sea urchins OUCH.
Went to yugoslavia in 1984 and it is a lovely place. If you are going anywhere near Plitvice national park-go as it is very nice if you are into lakes and waterfalls.look it up on the net to see if you are near it.
