Andrea Orlandi reckons the Premier League will suit Albion more than the Championship.
The Seagulls can take a step closer to their Premier goal by clinching a play-off place against Leeds at Elland Road today.
Spaniard Orlandi, who played in the top flight for Swansea, told The Argus: “I think it’s a fantastic league, a really good place to be.
“For a lot of our players it would be fantastic, even better than the Championship, because you get to play against better opposition but also they allow you to play more.
“If you lose the ball they are going to punish you on the counter-attack.
“There’s more quality but at the same time it’s better football to play in and it would suit our players a lot more.”
Orlandi believes a top-four finish and a home leg second in the semi-finals of the play-offs would help Albion’s promotion cause, just as it did when Swansea went up two seasons ago.
The in-form midfielder said: “The higher you are in the table the better it is.
“We finished third at Swansea. We played Forest who were sixth.
“All the teams are really good but if you play at home in the second leg it’s better. Obviously, the manager wants us to win both games we have left and finish as high as we can, because I think it’s a big advantage to play the return leg at home.”
Albion will be guaranteed a top-four spot if they beat Leeds and relegation-threatened Wolves at The Amex next Saturday and arch rivals Crystal Palace drop points in any of their three remaining matches.
