Preston have accepted a bid from Portsmouth for striker Ricardo Fuller, reports BBC Radio Lancashire.
The Premiership club are believed to have offered about £1.7m, with several clauses to delay the final payment.
Fuller turned down a contract extension at North End earlier this season and would have been eligible for a free transfer next year.
Deepdale chairman Derek Shaw has said there is no point holding on to a player who is not 110% behind the club.
Fuller joined Preston from Scottish side Hearts in June 2002 and has since become a firm favourite at Deepdale, scoring 30 goals in 59 appearances in all.
Shame he's going to Pompey though, he's good
