To test my theory that you can get an answer to anything on NSC, can anyone solve the last clue in last Sat's Guardian crossword - it's driving me mad.

I thought it must begin with S for Scottish but couldn't any tree beginning with I and nor can I think of anything Scottish beginning with B for Bahamas.
I'm baffled but this will really test the power of NSC.
