bristol ticket problems

CLUB BLAMES 'SNAIL MAIL' AFTER FANS MISS TICKETS
More Sport | Back to home page
Snail mail was blamed for some Bristol City fans not getting their play-off final tickets in time for yesterday's game.

Around 55 City supporters were left empty-handed after reserving a seat at the Millennium Stadium game, despite ordering on the Internet as long as seven days ago.
But the number of disappointed fans was far less than had been rumoured in some reports over the weekend, which put the ticketless level at more than 10,000.

Club officials were yesterday keen to put the record straight, saying just 50 to 60 of the 35,000 tickets snapped up by fans, were still in the post.

And they stressed that duplicates of any tickets that had failed to arrive by Saturday on the eve of the Division Two play-off final against Brighton and Hove Albion, would be held at the stadium.

A message was posted on the Bristol City website, in advance of the final, alerted fans to problems with delivery.

It read: "City are offering advice to any supporters that have not received play-off final tickets through the post.

"The majority of fans who purchased via online or hotline sales will have had their tickets sent out to their preferred address.

"However, it's anticipated that 50-60 tickets may not have reached supporters in time."

Duplicates were available from 10am yesterday, leaving plenty of time to make the stadium for the 3pm kick-off
