Brighton & Hove Albion women midfielder Charlotte Young believes the side showed a real fighting spirit against Coventry on Sunday, despite being knocked out of the FA Cup.
The Sky Blues progressed to round five with a 2-0 victory, but Young feels the result could have been different if the Seagulls had a more direct approach to the game.
She told seagulls.co.uk, “We played well for the best part of 80 minutes, but switched off towards the end of the game and that’s when we conceded the second goal.

“I felt that the game was very similar to last week in the sense and we more than matched them for long stages, so it’s obviously disappointing to be out of the competition.“We showed the same fighting spirit as the previous match, but perhaps could have been a bit more direct in terms of our play.
“They’ve done that twice and won both games against us, so that probably shows us where our weaknesses lie.”
Charlotte also looked at what the Seagulls need to improve on in the weeks ahead and hopes that the confidence gained from a reasonable cup run can be translated into the league.
“We need to improve most in the final third. Our build-up play is fine and we can be quite strong and physical at times, but don’t look like scoring at the moment. We just need to take whatever chances come our way.
“We’ve had a good run, but the important thing is to transfer that into our league form. We have a reasonable run of games ahead of us where we can achieve a good points haul as we aim to improve on our league position.”
