Uwe Huenemeier has been pleased with the way he has seamlessly slotted into the Brighton & Hove Albion defence and adapted to life in the Sky Bet Championship.The German centre-back has started each of Albion’s last five league games and feels that he is developing a good defensive partnership with club captain Gordon Greer.
He said, “We had a good game as a team, together. The most important thing is that myself and the back four do our jobs. We kept a clean sheet and it's good to see that we can just score one goal and still get the win. That is very important and creates a good mentality. It's a good sign for us.
“Gordon Greer is an important player for us as the skipper and he has helped me a lot. I am adapting more and more to the way we want to play. He speaks a lot to me, but I try to take my responsibility for the team and it is getting better and better.
“The biggest difference here is the physicality of the game. You have to work very hard until the 90th or 95th minute.
“Games are very tough and tight at the end and you have to work very hard in the duels with other players. I am now adapting to it and see how it works.”

The 29-year-old assessed the danger posed by Rotherham tonight and highlighted the areas where Albion can improve going into the next few games.“We won't underestimate them and know it's going to be a tough game tomorrow. It's very important for us to play like we did in the other games.
“We know we are favourites, but it will be hard work for us. All six games were tight and this will be a tight match as well.
“Hopefully there will be matches where we can kill the opponents off much earlier in the game. We have a lot of chances in the game to score more goals and we can work on that.
“But if we score just one goal and work as a team to keep a clean sheet, then that is different to a lot of teams right now in the league and it could be a big plus for us.”
Huenemeier explained just how much he has adjusted to life on and off the pitch since joining the club from SC Paderborn.
“I'm feeling very good now. I've settled in well, found an apartment and my family is here, so everything is perfect right now.
“We have won games, we are feeling good and we have a great mentality so it's nearly perfect for me.”
