A brace from George Couzens and a late strike from Anthony Spyrou sealed the three points for the Canaries, while Luis Garcia scored what proved to be a consolation for Albion in the second half.

Buckman told seagulls.co.uk, “In terms of a performance, we were very pleased. We started the game very well and wanted to try and create more chances, which was something we did very well.

“We had 24 attempts compared to their seven over the course of the game. On another day that would have translated into a positive day for us.

“We said to the boys that we need to be more clinical and create more chances. We learned our lesson the hard way and got punished at the other end.

“We didn’t manage to get the result that we wanted, but we were really pleased with the players’ work rate.”
