Albion could have taken the lead inside the opening few minutes, when Daniel Mandriou forced a strong save from Hammers keeper Sam Howes.

Mandroiu and Thomas Byrne had further chances to break the deadlock, but the shot-stopper was on hand again to thwart Albion’s efforts.

The hosts took the lead in the 26th minute after Diangana reacted quickest to a blocked shot inside the area and finished well beyond Bailey Vose.
