Brighton & Hove Albion under 18s were beaten 4-1 by Aston Villa on Saturday.
Albion took an eighth-minute lead, when Jack Rowe-Hurst latched onto Connor Tighe's long ball, beat an opponent and then the goalkeeper to continue his fine scoring form.
Tom Cadman then had an attempt to double Albion's lead just moments later, after carrying the ball all the way from defence into a shooting position, but his strike was easily saved.
The hosts equalised in the 17th minute when Will Collar unfortunately diverted a dangerous cross into his own net, despite Albion's calls for a foul in the build up to the goal.
Villa then took the lead for the first time in the 44th minute as Rushian Hepburn-Murphy converted a low drive past Bailey Vose, before establishing a two-goal lead nine minutes later through Harry McKirdy’s neat finish.

The visitors struggled to cope with the windy conditions and found it difficult to retain possession in the attacking third, although a jinking run from Jordan Maguire-Drew resulted in his shot being blocked after linking up well with Rowe-Hurst.Villa’s high-pressing game forced errors from the Albion defence, which would eventually led to the claret-and-blue side netting a fourth goal seven minutes from time.
The under-18s are next in action when they host Reading at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre next Saturday.
