Brighton & Hove Albion under-18 coach Ian Buckman was delighted with how his players responded from the opening-day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur with a superb 6-0 win against Swansea City on Saturday.
*
Albion took the lead on the half-hour mark through David Ajiboye, before Jordan Maguire-Drew scored right on half time to give the Seagulls a 2-0 lead.
*
Maguire-Drew stuck three further goals in the second-half; the second of which came from the penalty spot, as Buckman’s side raced into a 5-0 lead after 70 minutes. Remi Meyers added a sixth in the closing stages.
*
Buckman told seagulls.co.uk, “It was a good performance and a great reaction following the Tottenham game.
*
“The lads prepared really well, they worked hard and applied themselves very professionally towards the game.
*
“They got their rewards on Saturday with the performance they produced.”

The under-18 coach believes the result is even more impressive with a number of players still yet to feature for the club.
*
“There are still nine players in the group that haven’t played yet, with some waiting for international clearance and others away on international duty, which is fantastic.
*
“So for such a young group to respond in that manner, and apply themselves to produce a really good team performance was excellent.
*
“It was pleasing to finish the game with four under-16 players on the pitch, so that was really nice and the pathway through the football club is very encouraging.”ALBION: Vose; Moore (Block 80), Barker, Rolf, Cox; Meyers, Sanders, Davies; Ajiboye (Morrison 60), Meekums (Hutchinson 70), Maguire-Drew.
