  • Ragnar Mar-Larusson and James Tilley on target for Albion.
  • Yan Dhanda and Herbie Kane on target for Liverpool.
  • Albion's run of nine matches without a win comes to an end.
  • Albion's next match is away at Reading on Saturday.
Brighton and Hove Albion under 18s took all three points in a wonderfully-contested game against Liverpool at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.
Ragnar Mar-Larusson had Albion's first chance of the game, after he hit the post following Jordan Maguire-Drew's initial effort.
George Cox had a bigger part to play than most in keeping the scores blank, after he scurried back to clear Matt Virtue’s chip off the line. He was then involved at the opposite end of the pitch, after beating several players before smashing his effort over the bar.
Chances continued to flow in the second half, but with more clinical finishing. Connor Tighe had the first chacne of the half, finding space to fire a shot at Reds’ goalkeeper, Shamal George. He saved Tighe’s effort, but couldn’t keep out Mar-Larusson who gave Albion the lead after 47 minutes.

An inspired response from Liverpool followed though, as Yan Dhanda equalised with an accurate finish from close range just two minutes after the visitors had fallen behind.Shortly after equalising, the Merseysiders took the lead, as good work on the left between Kris Owens and Callum Nicholas led to a pass inside for Herbie Kane, who curled a finish into the top corner.
It took Albion almost twenty minutes to level the scores again, as James Tilley embarked on a wonderful run forwards to the byline and pulled a pass back to Mar Larusson, who made it 2-2.
With the game finely balanced, both sides looked to take a late lead and Jake Brimmer almost did just that with a long range free-kick, but Bailey Vose pushed it round the post.
The game was dramatically won late on when Tilley, one of the games outstanding performers, collected the ball in a rare section of space in the Liverpool box and slotted home with great composure.
ALBION: Vose; Courtney, Cadman, White, Cox; Tighe, Meyers; Maguire-Drew (Ajiboye 70), Tilley, Barnett; Mar-Larusson. Subs not used: Sanders, Hobbs, Meekhams, Davies.
