Wiltshire, 55 & Horncastle, 75A clinical second half performance gave Albion’s Under-18s a 2-0 win over an industrious Millwall.
Following an even opening 45 minutes, the victory was secured courtesy of two second half goals from Cameron Wiltshire and Jamie Horncastle, as Albion’s youngsters proved too much for the home side.
The win was no less than Simon Rusk’s men deserved and, despite having to wait until the second half, Albion were unlucky not to take the lead early on.
In only the second minute of the game midfielder Charlie Harris freed Jason Davis down the right hand side and his well-timed cross was met by the head of Wiltshire, but he his effort went over the bar.
As the first half wore on Jack Rowe-Hurst and Harris were linking up well and the latter was unfortunate not to give his side the lead; narrowly dragging his effort wide from the edge of the area.
Albion almost grabbed a somewhat fortuitous lead when Davis charged down a Lions’ clearance, but the ball ricocheted off him and behind to safety.
Rusk's side raised their game in the second half and quickly took the lead when Rowe-Hurst calmly squared the ball across the face of goal for Wiltshire to finish.
With just over fifteen minutes left to play Mar-Carson Ragnar won Albion a corner after some good work down the left hand side and, from the resulting set piece, Horncastle stole in at the back post to seal the win.
Albion: Wray; Deen, Barnett, Benham, Horncastle, Barclay (Courtney 78), Davis (Ragnar 57), Wiltshire (Maguire-Drew 78), Rowe-Hurst, Harris, Muitt.
Subs not used: Carruthers, Conor.
