Brighton & Hove Albion and Albion in the Community are launching a ‘Speak Up Against Lung Cancer’ campaign, asking people to visit their doctor if they show symptoms of the biggest cancer killer of men and women.The launch will be at Albion’s game against Watford on Saturday 25th April and AITC’s partner organisation, 'Do Something Different', will be on hand to speak to supporters as well as offering their ‘Smoke Free Me' stop smoking programme.
A commissioned film starring Albion players and local footballers will also be shown to the crowd at half time.

Around 34,000 new cases of lung cancer are diagnosed every year in England, with around 140 in Brighton and Hove. It affects people of all ages, but is most common in over 50s and those who smoke.Finding it early can improve the chances of successful treatment. Symptoms include a persistent cough for three weeks or longer, breathlessness, repeated chest infections and coughing up blood.
Albion manager, Chris Hughton, who features in the adverts for the campaign said, “Brighton & Hove Albion and AITC's Speak Up Against Lung Cancer campaign is aiming to encourage people in Brighton and Hove who notice any potential symptoms whatsoever, to tell their doctor as soon as possible.”
