Brighton & Hove Albion executive director, Martin Perry has expressed his pride as the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre nears completion and praised the hard work of everyone involved in the construction process.Perry played an integral role in the training ground project; from identifying the original site to its completion and now believes the whole infrastructure of the club is in place.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “The building itself and all the facilities are absolutely tremendous. I think they’ve come out really well and we’re very proud with what we’ve achieved.
“It’s as good as I expected. It’s really nice when it fulfils your expectations and your dreams, but I’m really pleased with the outcome.
“There are now just a few odd bits of furniture and some graphics to put in and we’re pretty much there. It’s all down to a great deal of hard work by the whole team.
“What this represents is the completion of the whole infrastructure of the club. When we arrived at the club, we realised that we needed a new stadium and built that.
“Before we’d even finished building it, we decided that we needed a new training ground and we’ve done that, so this is a great moment in the history of the club.”

Perry revealed the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the players as they returned to pre-season training and believes everything is now in place to push on for a place in the Premier League. He also highlighted how the new facility will benefit the local community, with a pitch set to be allocated to local clubs across the area.
“The feedback has been absolutely tremendous. I genuinely believe it’s far better than the players ever expected and we’ve had comments like ‘Premier League’, ‘superb facility’, ‘unreal’ and ‘unbelievable’.
“They’re absolutely delighted and they now have a base to push on to the Premier League.
“The local community will also benefit from the community pitch in one corner of the site.
“We haven’t quite completed it because we have applied to install floodlights, but that is nearing completion. When that’s available, it will be used by a number of local clubs and groups and it will be fantastic.”
