Albion head to Turf Moor next Tuesday to take on a high-flying Burnley side who lost 2-0 at the Amex earlier this season.
Andrew Crofts and Leo Ulloa secured the points against the ten-men Clarets that day but how have the Seagulls coped on previous trips to Turf Moor?
Brighton’s last trip was in September 2012 when they secured a 3-1 win courtesy of two Craig Mackail-Smith goals – including a spectacular overhead kick - with the third coming from Gordon Greer with only minutes to play.
That 3-1 victory was the fourth time Albion have triumphed by that scoreline away to Burnley since 1979, and marked their first win at Turf Moor since a 2002 success by the same score on the opening day of the season.
Steve Melton, Paul Brooker and Bobby Zamora earned Martin Hinshelwood’s side the three points on that day as the club marked their return to the second tier of English football in style.
Albion’s first ever trip to Burnley, a 1961 FA Cup tie which ended three apiece, before the next visit, a 1973 Division Two encounter, saw Burnley win 3-0.
1977 saw a tighter affair with the game finishing 0-0, before Burnley hit Albion with another 3-0 win in 1978.*
This was followed though by the first of Brighton’s 3-1 wins in January 1979, the other three coming in 1993 and the aforementioned 2002 and 2012 meetings.
