Albion remain hot on the tail of league-leaders Portsmouth, as they currently sit in second in the Women’s Premier League Southern Division and just a point behind their south coast rivals in the title race.
“We’re still have a chance to win the league, but we’re relying on results elsewhere.. You’ve got to take each game as it comes, make sure we’re doing our job and even if it isn’t to be this season, we’ve still had a fantastic campaign and exceeded expectations.
“Gillingham have got Portsmouth on Sunday and they need to win the game to stay up. Hopefully we’ll get a positive result and then look to see what Portsmouth have done. If they win, then it’s game on again for the following week.
“We’re fully aware of that and we’ll be delighted to go up, but we’re preparing to play in the Premier League next season and it would be foolish to do otherwise.
“I’m absolutely delighted with our progress this season; we’ve amalgamated two teams and that’s been quite a difficult process for us. Considering the number of changes in the squad, it’s been a fantastic season for us and it’s been really progressive.”
