CHRIS HUGHTON hailed the performances of Anthony Knockaert, Tomer Hemed and Jamie Murphy in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 3-0 win over Brentford on Friday night.The Albion manager praised the quality shown from the trio in the side’s biggest victory of the season to date.Chris Hughton
He said, “When somebody like Anthony is on form, he can go either way. He is a left-footed player but he does not always play particularly wide and he can become very difficult to pick up.
“He is a winger, and wingers can be a little bit up and down; it’s the nature of the position; but he is somebody who has settled in really well for us.
"Tomer missed a couple of opportunities earlier in the game, so I am really pleased for him. He works hard and sometimes it is not just about scoring goals, it is about contributing to the team.
“He did miss a really good chance on his left foot earlier in the game, but I thought it was an excellent header [for the goal].
“I thought that Jamie was very good – both ways. He is somebody who works very hard and he is an old style winger. Sometimes he has got to be a little bit more selfish and come inside, where he has got to look to score a few more goals himself.
“He is somebody who is prepared to work very hard for the team.”
The Seagulls boss also explained the reasons behind Bobby Zamora’s withdrawal from the game at half-time and is confident that Beram Kayal will be fine for Bolton next Saturday, with the midfielder currently carrying a slight knock.
“We are all aware that we have to look after Bobby well and he has good moments and bad moments. I don’t think it is anything dramatic. We made that decision – arguably we could have played him on for another ten minutes – but with what we have at the moment, I think that was the right decision.
“Beram has been carrying a bit of a knock but he will have a good recovery now before the next game.”

DEAN SMITH felt his side conceded three poor goals in Brentford’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night.The Brentford boss felt the game started rather evenly, but admitted that his side struggled to get past a resolute Seagulls defence following the first goal.
He told brentfordfc.co.uk, “Until the first goal, it could have gone either way.
“We had chances, they had chances but once they got the goal they were very difficult to break down.
“We had a lot of the ball, but didn’t open them up as well as we should with enough potency up front, but we got counter attacked and got sucker punched.
“The first goal was always going to be important.
“The second goal was a poor one to give away. In fact, the first two were poor, I think Maxime [Colin] thought the ball’s going out of play and the outstanding player of the night - Jamie Murphy - gave him a really tough time.
“Unfortunately we’ve given sloppy goals away and when you do that, you’re always chasing the game.”
