If we start to perform the way we should and the way we are able to, then why not? "
Tomasz Kuszczak
Tomasz Kuszczak believes a promotion push is still in Albion’s hands despite the recent indifferent results. The Seagulls face Watford on Monday night, having failed to register a win in four games, but the Albion keeper remains in a positive frame of mind.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “We have to prove it on the pitch, but everything is still in our hands.
“If we start to perform the way we should and the way we are able to, then why not?
“Obviously this season is much harder than last season, because of the injuries, but there’s still a lot of games to play. Now we have to put in the hard work and keep winning!
“Defensively I think we’ve played quite well, we’re solid at the back and we have a lot of experience, but football is about goals and we need to do better with this.
“We defend like a team, but without scoring we’re not going to win games.”
Kuszczak also revealed that he could have joined Watford before he accepted Albion’s offer, having played for the Hornets on loan from Manchester United.
“There was a chance of staying there. I talked to Sean Dyche at the time and he wanted me to stay but the situation with Watford was different then to how it is these days and the club couldn’t afford to sign me - but it wasn’t because I asked for something crazy!
“The time I spent on loan there was very important for me because I hadn’t played for a long time and it was a good opportunity for me.
“Football moves very differently when you don’t play for a long time. People forget about you and begin to ask why you’re not playing, are you motivated and so on, and there was a time when I was in that position.
“Then I went to Watford and regained my confidence and enjoyed playing again.
“Watford are a very strong team and they were unlucky last season; they should be playing the Premier League really, but things can change quickly.“
