Jake Forster-Caskey believes the quality that England under-21s are facing in their friendlies will help the Three Lions be bettered prepared for the 2015 Euro Finals.The Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder was part of Gareth Southgate’s side that beat next summer’s Group B rivals Portugal 3-1 in a friendly at Turf Moor on Thursday, and the 20-year-old feels tonight’s game against France will only further aid the team’s preparations.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “I saw France play out in Toulon and they look like a strong team. They’re quite physical and they’ll be good on the ball as well so it’s going to be quite a tough test.
“But there’s a good spirit and everyone’s training very well so I think it will be a good game. It’s been nice to be back around the lads, there’s a really good feel around the camp and I think that showed the other night.
“We played some really good stuff at times and came away with a really good victory.
“The gaffer keeps saying that we will be playing teams who are a really high standard and obviously the boys want to play against the best players and we showed that we can beat them. It’s good for us going into the summer.”

Meanwhile Forster-Caskey reflected on how England qualified for the summer tournament in the Czech Repubic with an impressive play-off win over Croatia, and says everyone is now determined to cement a place in Southgate’s final squad.“We didn’t change our style of play at all, we like to get the ball down and play and we did that and had a lot of possession. We scored some good goals and got through quite comfortably in the end.
“Everybody has one eye on that [squad selection] now, but you’ve got to do well for your club first and hopefully country will take care of itself after that.
“When you’re here and you’ve got the shirt, you’ve got to play well and then hopefully you can keep it because there are a lot of good players and top competition for places.”
