Brighton & Hove Albion boss Sami Hyypia says he feels his side are on track, despite his disappointment at yesterday's 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. The Seagulls boss felt there were positives and negatives from the defeat, but says with the right additions the squad will progress. He told seagulls.co.uk, "Every manager always wants to have a better squad and I am hopeful that we will get our targets. Then, maybe, it will look a little bit different.

"Overall we’re on the right path and it’s work, work, work. We start again today. Then Monday we’ll have another session and then Tuesday another game. The games are coming quickly and you don’t have time for a breather.
"You analyse this game and then prepare for the other. I liked to play lots of games when I was a player – because you did not have to train that much, which was a good thing.
"When I switched to become a manager it is different. You have to analyse and prepare for the next opposition, the games come very fast. I will need to watch Cheltenham’s game ready for today and then we will prepare for Tuesday.

"We need to win the game on Tuesday and the team that I field will be a team that I think can win the game. It is very important to progress to the next round – and there may be a couple of players who did not get a chance yesterday who will play."

Meanwhile Hyypia has thanked Albion's fans for a terrific welcome, adding "My first experience of the Amex was very good. It was a great atmosphere and I hope it stays that way. I was really happy to have the backing of the fans for the whole game."You need the fans when you are going through a bad time. When things are going well it is very easy to be a fan. Every game is important and we cannot wait a long time to get points. It is so irritating that we did not get anything from this game.

"It was nice to get back to football. I enjoyed pre-season, working with the players on the field. I love football, it has been a big part of my life for a long time and if I didn’t enjoy this job I wouldn’t do it.
"It’s all down to the work on the training field and I will try to improve the club every day. I try to improve myself too, I know that I don’t know everything about football.
"I’m still like a school kid that wants to learn. This kind of opportunity where I have a place like this to learn. I want to learn more and improve and develop myself."
