A lot of games are dependent on defending set plays well and scoring from them yourself, and that was the story today."
Chris Hughton

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton said his team were killed by "poor goals at poor times", as they went down 3-2 to Nottingham Forest at the Amex.

The Seagulls boss said, "Having taken the lead the last thing we needed was to concede just before half-time, which hurt us a bit. It gave Forest the lift that they needed."Their first goal was a soft goal. It was a free kick that we didn't need to give away at that period of the game and I felt that we should have dealt with it better.
"In the second half we showed a good reaction and we pushed to try and get the lead back, but then we conceded two goals from set plays at vital parts of the game which was disappointing.
"Set plays are a massive part of the game – our goals came from them as well. A lot of games are dependent on defending set plays well and scoring from them yourself, and that was the story today."

Hughton had warned against a reaction from a Forest team under new management, with Dougie Freedman overseeing the win on his first game in charge of the visitors."We got what we expected from Nottingham Forest. They were a side that was invigorated by having a new manager and they very much played on the counter attack and they were always a threat.
"They sat and tried to play on the counter, which gave us a lot of possession - but with that possession you have got to use it well and create opportunities.
"Unless we are a side that is tight enough not to concede, then we need to be scoring more; we were not able to get into good areas to break them down consistently. Then you have to be resolute in defence, which we were not today."
