Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton paid tribute to the late Dave Mackay following the side’s 2-0 victory over Derby County on Tuesday night.
*
The Amex held a minute’s applause prior to kick-off for the legendary former Rams, Tottenham, Hearts and Scotland player.
*
He said, “I met Dave on numerous occasions and as a 12-year-old, my first coach was the left-back from that double winning team, Ron Henry.
*
“Ron used to tell me about him and there is probably not anything that I have not heard about him.
*
“He was an honest tackler and people forget how good a footballer he was. When you hear some of the great players from that era say what a good player he was then you have to take that on board.“He is a Tottenham legend and also at Derby. If you walk through any of the lounges at Tottenham then he is the player that everybody talks about.
