At his pre-match press conference, Chris Hughton delivered the team news, reviewed Liam Rosenior’s recovery from injury, and looked at the threat posed by Cardiff City and the flourishing partnership of Gordon Greer and Lewis Dunk.

Team News: “Gordon [Greer] has trained the last few days. James [Wilson] didn’t train, but he was out with the medical staff and came through a fairly good session with them.“We’re very hopeful he’ll train on Friday, but we won’t know that yet.
“Gaetan [Bong] is back training with us, so we want as many players and options as possible. Sam Baldock came on the other night and James has shown that he can score goals. You always want that type of individual available.
“We know where we are with Solly [March], but Uwe [Huenemeier] has taken a bit longer than we thought.* Sometimes in an injury you go through a tougher period and come back. At the moment, he’s not ready to make the next step and come back.”

Rosenior’s Recovery: "The fact he was on the bench [v Hull], means he is very close. He is a very fit individual and he has done most of his work here [at the training ground].
"Liam hasn't been involved in any under-21 games, but he has a very good level of fitness and experience.
"I would not hesitate to put him back in. I think anyone who is back in the frame, you have to look at as a possible starter.”

Threat from Cardiff: “They’re capable of winning any game, which they’ve showed. Generally their home form has been very good this season, so that makes it a tough game.
“They have had some turnaround in players, even in this January window, but they’re capable of beating any team at home. They gave a good account of themselves at the Amex earlier this season and a lot of the players from then are still in the squad. We can’t afford to take this game lightly.”

Goldson and Dunk partnership: "They have both done very well. No disrespect to Gordon because he has been excellent for us, not only this season but has been great in general.
“It's good to see two young players in Connor and Lewis come in and do well. There is only a year or two between them in age, but Dunky has more experience at this level.
"Connor came to this level having played a lot of games at Shrewsbury from a young age and I think that has showed. He is not a young player that has not played and come through the system here making his debut, this is a player that, of course at a different level, has vast experience."
