“After Friday, we go into the game against Bolton, who are pushing hard for a result. If I'm looking at where they are in the table, they are probably two or three wins away from getting out of that bottom three so they'll be fighting and we expect no easy games.
“This week has allowed us to get some good rest and recovery for those ones that have played a lot. We have not been a team that has always rotated and we've had a core of players who have played a lot of games and minutes. I think it will have been a valuable break.”

Hughton looked further ahead into February with a trio of potentially tricky away games at Hull City, Cardiff City and Bristol City, and hopes that January additions will enable the squad to cope with a demanding schedule.“You have tough games in almost every month you go into. We seem to have had a sequence of home games followed by a run of away games and the three journeys to Hull, Cardiff and Bristol City are all long trips.
“But when you want to achieve something, they’re the type of games that you have to try and get something from and cope with it as much as possible.
“I’d like to think that the additions we’ve made will help.”
The Albion manager hopes that one of those new signings, Jiri Skalak, will add a new dimension to the club’s forward line.
"I'm delighted to have got him in. It's one that has been on our recruitment department’s radar for quite some time. He's at a very good age, but we will find out how long it will take for him to settle in.
“He's trained very well later in the week and he's a player that has worked his way into the Czech national team. You have to be of a certain level to have achieved that and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.
“He’s certainly a good level quality player and it gives us really good competition for places.”
