We don’t want to be in the position we’re in, but there are still 16 games to go and we have to focus on each one."
Chris Hughton

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has urged his players not to worry too much about the teams around them and focus on their own games in their bid to avoid the Championship drop zone.Albion have slipped closer to the bottom three in recent weeks following a run of three league games without a win, but Hughton is not overly concerned by the fortunes of other clubs.
*
He said, “It’s not something I’m thinking about - I’m just thinking about the next game.
*
“It’s very difficult to legislate what’s going on around you; unfortunately Millwall have picked up a couple of good results recently that have seen them move closer to us than we would have liked.
*
“But you also have some other teams like Charlton who have been drawn into it by their own lack of form. We don’t want to be in the position we’re in, but there are still 16 games to go and we have to focus on each one.
“It is hard to think about the different permutations because you don’t know what’s going to happen elsewhere.
*
“You can’t anticipate results; all we have to make sure is that we get our results right. We need to start improving our recent form and it’s good that we’ve got a few players back in the fold.”******************************

The debate surrounding playing surfaces has also gathered momentum in recent weeks following Albion’s game at Blackpool a fortnight ago. Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough pitch is also coming under scrutiny, but Hughton believes this cannot be used as an excuse going into the match on Saturday.
*
“You have to be able to adapt and there are going to be some surfaces in the division that are cleaner than others.
*
“It’s part of football and after watching some games there, there are teams that have used the surface well, so we need to do the same.
*
“Sometimes you have to adjust your game a bit, but generally the philosophy will be still be the same. Ultimately it’s about making sure we’re determined enough not to concede the goals we have done of late and give ourselves a good threat going forward.” [h=3]ALBION V BIRMINGHAM
