Midfielder Dean Hammond said that the squad are in confident mood despite the current winless streak.
The former Albion skipper felt that it’s a matter of time until their luck changes and told seagulls.co.uk, “The run is not getting to the players but we are an ambitious and determined group that want to win games.
*
“We go onto the football pitch to get three points no matter how we do it but it is obviously nice to win games by passing the ball around like we do. We have been solid all season and that is the platform we are building on.”
*
Gus Poyet’s side have been left frustrated by defensive-minded visiting sides at the Amex but Hammond is not expecting a rear-guard action from tonight’s opponents, Peterborough United.
*
“They are a full-on attacking team with some good attacking players. They create a lot of chances and they like to score goals.
*
“They are a team that believe they can outscore teams so we have got to be aware of that. We have to concentrate and focus on our own game. If we perform like we did against Leeds we have a very good chance of winning.”
*
Meanwhile, with Liam Bridcutt suspended for the fixture, the holding midfielder role is vacant and Hammond will be happy to play a deeper role, if required.
*
“Liam is a fantastic player and since I have been here he has put in some fantastic performances - he knows that role so well. The team really rely on him because he is a massive player for us and he will be sorely missed but we will have to adapt and fill the position for one game.
*
“Someone needs to fill this gap and if the gaffer asks me to play there I am happy to. I played in that role earlier in my career when I was here under Dean Wilkins. I enjoyed the role and I understand it.
*
“I also played there a lot for Southampton last season so it is nothing new to me but there are a few players here who can play in that position, so we will see what the gaffer wants to do.”
