Brighton & Hove Albion skipper Gordon Greer is eager to get some game time for Scotland, after earning another call-up for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Georgia and Poland.

Greer was an unused substitute in a narrow 2-1 defeat for the Scots against Germany last month, but says he will do his utmost to get some game time at Ibrox on Saturday and in Warsaw on Tuesday.

He told seagulls.co.uk, “I just keep playing my heart out here for Brighton and hope I get picked.

“I spoke to the Scotland manager after the last squad and a couple of times since. I speak to a few of the boys.

“As I keep saying, playing for Scotland is a massive honour at this stage of my career.

“In every squad you are in, it is important for every player to give their all. If you’re training as a starter you need to be training against someone who is trying to do well because it brings the best out of you.”

Greer has linked up with Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall in the squad, who produced an inspired performance at the Amex against Albion to earn the Bluebirds a point in a 1-1 draw recently.

“Big Marsh was outstanding so I’m sure I’ll be having a few words with him about that! On another day we could have won 4-1 but he pulled off some great saves.

“It didn’t surprise me. I know he has been fantastic for Cardiff. I think he was voted best goalkeeper in the Premier League last year. He is a great goalkeeper, he’s a great guy, so obviously I’d have liked him to have thrown one in!"

Ahead of the upcoming qualifiers, Greer feels Scotland can take confidence from a gutsy display in Germany.

“Georgia and Poland are good teams. It will be tough for us but we feel full of confidence.

“Germany was a difficult game. They started really well but I thought in the second half the lads were great. We might have nicked something from it, but it was great for morale to go there and play as well as we did.
