A magnanimous Dougie Freedman last night admitted Brighton & Hove Albion were the better side as they beat his Bolton Wanderers team 2-0 at the Reebok Stadium.
The Trotters boss told his club’s official website, “Brighton were the better side today, but saying that, on a different day we could have won the game.
“At the start of the second half we were chasing that equaliser and if that had come our way the game would have taken a different path.
“We conceded a lot of possession against what is a very good Brighton side, though I still feel we created enough chances to win the game.”

Despite Albion’s dominance, Freedman felt his side was unfairly denied an equaliser when Joe Mason’s effort was ruled out for offside with score at 1-0.
“We had an offside decision that went against us. Joe Mason put the ball in the net and he was clearly in an onside position. When that happens, you just knew it wasn’t going to be our day.
“Brighton did get the rub of the green with one or two decisions, but when the chances came their way they took them very well with two clinical finishes.
“We had enough chances to have taken something from the game. We’ve played a lot worse than today and won games.
“It’s obviously a disappointing result given the recent run we have been on.*
“We’ve put a lot of effort in over the last month or so and we just came up a little bit short today.
“We can’t let ourselves get too down. We’ve been performing very well of late, particularly at the Reebok, and we’ve now got to pick ourselves up and move on.”
