Albion women head coach John Donoghue is looking for a response from his players when they travel to Coventry in the FA Cup fourth round this Sunday.

The Seagulls suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Chichester in the Sussex Challenge Cup Final last night, but Donoghue is expecting his players to be focused on this weekend’s match at the Ricoh Arena.

He told seagulls.co.uk, “I said to the players that I expect them to go all guns blazing against Coventry, but you can’t perform supremely well one week and then poorly next week without paying a price somehow.

“It would be great to have a good run in the FA Cup, but we don’t want to be known as just a cup side; we need to achieve a real consistency in the way we manage games.“In terms of our preparation, the girls have had enough information from the game on Sunday and the game last night to be able to put in a decent performance at the weekend.”
The Albion coach was also magnanimous in his assessment of Thursday’s match and believes that Chichester were worthy winners on the night.
"They deserved to win; they scored their goals, put pressure on us and did everything their manager asked.
“If you get beaten by teams that are better than you then fair enough. Chichester were better on the day, but we never got going.
“Hopefully we’ll see a big improvement on Sunday.”
