Yes, it [the goal] saved me! I had seen Solly was coming on, maybe for me, but I had my one chance and I scored"
David Lopez
David Lopez acknowledged that his 58th minute strike kept him on the pitch against Birmingham City.
Fellow midfielder Solly March was ready to enter the fray but Oscar Garcia ended up not making the change once David netted the winning goal.
The Spaniard told seagulls.co.uk, “Yes, it [the goal] saved me! I had seen Solly was coming on, maybe for me, but I had my one chance and I scored.*
“I am feeling better with every game but I need more games, more training and to keep working hard so in the upcoming games I can help the team.*
“It was a good day for me, not only because of the goal, but also because it was good for the team.*
“We needed the three points and it was very important for us to win here in front of our fans.”
The 31-year-old added that he is seeing similarities to last season and has urged the squad to continue their good form on the road, as Albion now face four consecutive away fixtures.
“It was the same last season when we started slowly, now the team is playing well and creating chances.*
“Today we had many shots and we need to continue this level of play and keep playing well.*
“At the start of the season we were aiming for the play-offs and today is the first time we are there, so we need to keep winning and these next four away games are very important for us.”*
