Calderon rues missed opportunities...
In the wake of Albion’s goalless draw to Nottingham Forest, right-back Inigo Calderon spoke of the team’s frustration following a string of missed opportunities at the Amex.
Calderon told seagulls.co.uk, “In the first half we had plenty of chances to score but we*didn't. We were not quite as good during the second half but we still had chances to win, so we are a little frustrated.
“There is not much more we can do. We are playing well but it’s just about putting the ball in the net, but we are not doing that at the moment.”
Despite the stalemate Calderon managed to draw on some positives from the performance and was optimistic that the team have the ability to turnaround the goalscoring form.
“Although we*didn't*score we got another clean sheet, after a few games of conceding goals. In the first half we played some great football and we will take positives from that.
“The goals are going to come, and when they do we will start winning more games. As soon as we score the first one we need to see out the game, but that goal never arrived today. That is the problem when you have a bad run.”
Calderon has been second choice right-back this season but was handed an opportunity in his favoured berth against Forest owing to a Bruno injury, and that competition for places will benefit the Seagulls side according to the 30-year-old.
“It is not easy because everybody wants to play football games and not just train, and train, and train. We have a very good squad here though and it’s down to us to prove ourselves to the manager when we do play.
“Competition for places is always good for a squad.”
