The first ever Albion in the Community Brighton to Paris Bike Ride has raised £73,000 for the charity.*
AITC chief executive Michael Edwards revealed the fundraising total at a special celebration event at the Amex last night attended by cyclists, their families and event sponsors. *
Over 100 guests saw a special video message from Albion chairman Tony Bloom congratulating the riders and also heard from Jadey Yesilada, one of AITC's disability beneficiaries, who spoke at the event.*
The money raised by the bike ride will support Jadey's Dream, a fundraising appeal to increase AITC's disability programme aimed at giving more disabled people across Sussex the chance to take part in sport.*
Edwards told seagulls.co.uk,"We have far exceeded the fundraising target we set ourselves and that is down to the incredible efforts of everyone who took part.*
“It has been a great team effort all round so last night's event was just a small thank you to all the cyclists and all the sponsors, particularly Giant Shoreham and American Express, for supporting the bike ride and making it such a resounding success in its first year. We will definitely be running the event again next year."
