Oatway with Skill

Seems to me what we're lacking is anyone who can control midfield. Every time we played it long, Bristol were there 1st, especially their back four (goalie did next to nothing all game).

Could I suggest an Oatway with skill might help us in this department?

You don't say?

Oh well, I'm sure McGhee will be massively grateful for that advice - after all, there are loads of complete central midfielders knocking around for nothing.

Not really sure what your point is? Tha other thread is claiming Oatway is the solution to all our problems - which is definitely wide of the mark.

I actually agreed with you in the first place - a hard-tackling midfielder who is also creative would improve the team. That would improve most teams as there aren't many about. It's just so blindingly obvious it barely deserves a thread of its own.

Next, how we could do with more defenders like Danny Cullip who can also pass. And a couple of strikers with Leon's skill who are two foot taller.

Oatway with his normal game would be a huge asset at the moment along with Simon Rodger. All we canb hope is that they come back a.s.a.p.

Agree about Rodger.

I probably owe Bromley an apology for the rather confrontational response of my initial answer - I was in a very bad mood having watched my favourite football team fall apart over the past few weeks.

But I still think it was a bit obvious :)

Matt moved to Priory Lane from Eastbourne United (Sussex County League) in July 2000, having been voted Player of the Year at the Oval.

Immensely skillful on the ball and very quick, 'Crabby' invariably picks up his fair share of knocks. Fearless in the tackle, his dogged determination has made him a great favourite with the Priory Lane crowd. More of a provider than a prolific goalscorer, but capable of spectacular strikes.

Voted Borough's Man of the Match in last season's Sussex Senior Cup Final.

What we're missing is an old head to instruct our head less chickens on the pitch!

Please no more youngsters!

Aspinal, Rogers, Morgan etc etc. Let the yougsters do all the running and tackling! What we need is an old pro 30-36yrs who can put his foot on the ball and command his troops!

We don't need the 'complete' misfielder at all! We're in div 2 not the champions league and it is not rocket science to get out of it! We have two strikiers in Knight and McPhee who know where the back of the net is. We have (believe it or not) a decent defence, they just need organising and don't play Butters and Cullip together! We have a couple of nippy wingers in Hart and Jones. What we need to do is get a loan player in the shape of oatway until he is fit. i.e. someone who is a work horse and a ball winner who will kick a few players up in the air and an excellent man marker. We need someone who can slow things down and knock the ball to Knights FEET! Knight has excellent ball control so you can whack it at him pretty hard JUST AT HIS FEET!

In conclusion:

We're not a million miles away from a decent side. We need to clear some deadwood (Watson & Chippy) and bring in an old head to calm things down and play football on the deck.

simple.
