I thought it was laugh out loud. My friend thinks it's lots of love. Who is right? If I am wrong, then I have to apologise to a LOT of people! I thought I was right, but can anyone please back me up?

I suppose it depends in which context you read it.

Absolutely correct. 'LOL' may be an acronym for lots of things but on the Internet it means 'Laugh(ing) Out Loud'
