Just putting the finishing touches to my new games room (I've been allotted the converted attic) - everything all set up, and sat down ready to try the Fifa 13 demo. This was 3 hours ago - the bloody thing is still downloading. My router is on the ground floor in the living room. I've got one bar of internet signal and it is absolutely crawling along.

A friend mentioned 'wireless repeaters' which apparently retransmit your wireless internet signal wherever you place it in the house. Can anyone recommend one and do they work?

I should also add I have had a BT phoneline put in the attic - because of the family needs of internet downstairs/in the bedrooms I can't simply take the router up to the attic (which would be ideal) - is it possible to run two routers off one 20meg broadband connection (12meg download actual)?

Thanks NSC, you never let me down

No... basically you get a network lead from your router and plug it into one adapeter and then plug the other one in your games room and connect it straight up to your console. It's not wireless but wired, but you can always buy a wireless access point and connect it to this adapter if you need wireless.

I've setup many Powerline Ethernet Adapters for clients at their request, and they are "ok" at best, but sometimes they are the only option available depending on the distance between the wireless router and the computer, and also what the walls in the property are made of!

You can get decent wireless repeaters for about £70 and they simply do exactly what you expect once setup.

Let me know if you need any further help?

Thanks mate, from what I've just speed-read in the last ten mins I'll try a powerline ethernet adapter first and see how I get on. I might be PMing you at some point if it's not working out for me

PS. is there an option that makes use of the fact I have a new phone line actually in the attic itself?

So i can put a widget in my spare room so i get more than 1 bar in my bedroom? My router is three solid brick walls away in the lounge.

I've just bought this wireless wifi repeater for £28 via Amazon and it works a treat. Took about 20-30 to set up and now means I get a wireless signal all over my place whereas before it was only in the rooms closest to the router. In fact, in one room the signal is stronger from the repeater than the router despite being closer to the router although perhaps that says more about the router than the repeater! Would certainly recommend them.
