O/T - Help required testing a new simulation game

Don't know if anyone is interested in helping with this. After playing the dice and chart simulation games and quickly knocking up Decathlon, I had an idea for a darts game along similar lines. I have spent a lot more time on this than Decathlon and I'm trying to find out if I have got the balance right.

Would anybody be able to have a go at playing the game to find out if it is any good and whether or not it is fun to play. (I guess you need to like this sort of game to stand a chance of finding it fun.) All you need is a copy of Excel (or something that can view an Excel spreadsheet) and 3 dice. I can provide a link to a good software scorer which helps the old brain a bit.

It would help if you know the basics of darts as the game let's you choose your own way of 'checking out'. I haven't created any players yet but that is easy enough to do.

Any help would be appreciated - I have contacted the guy who runs Lambourne Games who make, amongst other things, the football game that I use for the football simulation and who also wrote the Spectrum Tennis game I used. He was less than enthusiastic about the prospect of adding a darts game to his catalogue but if it proves popular then I might submit it to him anyway.

Don't be afraid of telling me it's crap - it was just an idea that I couldn't get rid of until I turned it into a game. Now it's done I just want other people's opinion so I can put it to bed, one way or another.

If you are interested in having a go, please PM me your email address and I'll send you the spreadsheet with the charts and rules (It's only about 40k). If you want to abuse me for being a sad geek then feel free as well! :lolol:

Rolling dice?

Surely you can get Excel to randomize numbers between 1 and 6 for you, no?

You can indeed but I understand that the Simulation purists are wary of it's random properties. I have started using Excel random numbers in my Football Simulation.

This game works better with dice, you quickly decide which number you are going for and then throw the dice - using Excel takes the soul out of it.
