O/T - Help, any i-Pod owners out there

I have just arrived back from my travels, whilst in Singapore I invested in an i-Pod as I had always wanted a music player and seriously missed access to music when away from home.

I have successfully managed to record some CD's onto the music match jukebox and have tried several times to download onto the player, without any luck. I get the "Do not disconnect" message on the screen but when the menu comes up no music has been transferred.

I am sure that there is an obvious reason for this, can anyone help.

Are you recording your CD's on a MAC or a PC,

I use a MAC but havent downloaded since the first few days about a year ago.

I did have loads of problems at first and the pod nearly went out the window, MAC instructions are shite,

I can't promise anything but i could give my pod another run out..

they're an absolute arse.

but then I've only done in on PC and not MAC...

I don't have any problems. What you must do is record the CD/Music into MP3 format using MusciMatch. Then click on "File" and "Send to a portable device" making sure your ipod is plugged in.

It takes up to a minute to recognise the ipod but when it has it appears in its own window, similar to the rest of Musicmatch as a sub item of "Portable Devices". Click on ipod to select it then click on the button at the bottom left of the window "add", then select the albums/artists or whatever you want to transfer and click okay.

have you got the correct software? Have you got the firmware upgrades? (this just updates stuff and fixes bugs).
I have'nt got one myself but am awaiting an Xclef HD-500 - 20gig with FM radio and not only MP3 player but mass storage device, all for just £229

simple tip (well certainly for Mac users) don't try and drag your files over to the i-pod. won't work. you have to open up the applications by choosing a file

wooo just got a confirmation e-mail that my new toy has been dispatched and I should get it tomorrow - all my 2000+ MP3's have a new home, my poor 128mb player will still be used for frequent trips to the pub until it dies completley!

I'm running a 10GB Mac version of the Ipod connected to a Windows XP Pro laptop with 4 pin Fire Wire connection.

I purchased XPlay from MediaFour which when connecting my Ipod using a 4 pin to 6 pin FireWire cable, automatically synchronises My Music folder with the Ipod.

No problems

Cheers for the suggestion Superphil, I followed your directions and managed to load some music, though it did stop half way through because the battery ran out. I now have the machine on charge and will hopefully be able to finish the job later.
